JEFFERSON COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINER OFFICE BREAKS GROUND IN BIRMINGHAM /2024/10/jefferson-county-medical-examiner-office-breaks-ground-in-birmingham/ Thu, 03 Oct 2024 22:09:54 +0000 /?p=12325

Doster Construction Company has broken ground on Jefferson County’s new coroner and medical examiner office in Birmingham, Alabama.

The facility includes a new single-story, 32,000 square foot building on a 9-acre site in southwest Birmingham. Site planning the building for privacy was paramount for a project of this nature. The building is separated into discreet but connected offices and medical examination space.

The design team from Poole and Company Architects selected the building’s materials to blend into its natural setting. Additionally, the building’s orientation incorporates ample natural light, outdoor gathering spaces, and energetic third spaces areas, creating a desirable workplace that promotes team collaboration and a place of respite.

“We are excited to be a part of this project with Jefferson County. We are also grateful for strong local participation from the design team and local trade partners. “We look forward to building a functional work environment for the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, which plays a pivotal role in serving the community,” said Doster Project Director, Manny Norrell.

Construction began in June and is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2025.

NORTH OKALOOSA MEDICAL CENTER BREAKS GROUND ON EMERGENCY ROOM EXPANSION /2024/05/north-okaloosa-medical-center-breaks-ground-on-emergency-room-expansion/ Tue, 14 May 2024 21:17:37 +0000 /?p=12234

Doster Construction Company broke ground on Monday, May 6, 2024 on a $15 million construction project to expand North Okaloosa Medical Center’s emergency department in Crestview, Florida.

The project will expand the existing emergency department to a capacity of 25 beds and enhance the resources for the clinical team to deliver care. Investments will also be made in new technology and equipment, including diagnostic imaging to deliver critical data needed by the clinicians.

The construction is anticipated to be completed in early 2025. When completed, patients will enter through a new entrance and ambulances will bring patients into a new ambulance bay. The project will also prepare the structure for future growth, making it easier to expand the cardiac cath lab department.

“We are here for the community when they experience a medical emergency and our team is committed to providing timely and safe, quality care,” said Michael Nordness, the hospital’s chief executive officer. “When this expansion project is complete, the patient experience will be enhanced and our caregivers will have even more resources to support their work to deliver this critical service.”

The ceremony, held on May 6, featured comments from North Okaloosa Medical Center’s CEO Michael Nordness, chief of staff and medical director of emergency medicine, Steve Noggle, M.D. before the board of trustee members, Dale Rice and Tom Moody and hospital leaders broke ground on the construction project.
